Job Summary: The Superintendent is responsible for leading the on-site execution of construction projects to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role serves as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, managing daily operations, and driving communication across project stakeholders. The Superintendent partners closely with Project Managers while maintaining a strong field presence to ensure successful project outcomes and an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all on-site construction activities from pre-construction through project closeout, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and field activities to ensure efficient execution and adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Drive project schedules through proactive planning, maintaining look-ahead schedules, and identifying and mitigating risks to prevent delays.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact, communicating progress, challenges, and solutions to Project Managers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve field issues, including plan discrepancies, material shortages, and coordination challenges.
  • Oversee material management, including receiving, inspecting, tracking, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain an organized, clean, and OSHA-compliant job site.
  • Lead quality control efforts, including ongoing inspections, punch list management, and final project closeout.
  • Support or perform hands-on installation activities as needed to meet project timelines.
  • Manage subcontractor performance by setting expectations, providing feedback, and ensuring accountability to project standards.
  • Ensure accurate daily reporting, documentation, and use of project tracking systems.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience managing retail, restaurant, or commercial construction projects.
  • Experience managing projects ranging from $200,000 to $500,000+ in value.
  • Experience working with permitting and inspection processes across multiple municipalities.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience with ground-up or complex renovation projects preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and building systems, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and masonry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field operations and coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage field teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with technology including mobile devices, spreadsheets, and project tracking systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and execution quality.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive accountability and performance in the field.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet and work in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Work Environment

  • This role requires up to 80% travel, including extended assignments of up to 8 consecutive weeks and frequent overnight stays.
  • Work performed at active construction sites with exposure to outdoor elements, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times on job sites.

Travel Requirements

This position is required to travel as an essential function of this role due to the need for in-person interaction with customers, field partners, and/or business stakeholders. This role requires up to 80% travel, including extended assignments of up to 8 consecutive weeks and frequent overnight stays. Travel may include local, regional, or national destinations and may be conducted via automobile, air, or other modes of transportation. All travel must be pre-approved in accordance with company policy and conducted in compliance with applicable safety and expense guidelines.

Pay Range

$65,000 - $90,000 annually - A pay range listed reflects the potential pay for this role. The pay will depend on various factors, such as responsibilities of the position, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Not all positions posted will have a pay range listed.
