Overview

Job Summary:The Fabricator III is responsible for manufacturing and assembling various signs, frames, structures, cabinets, and other items designated to the metal shop for fabrication. This role involves using specialized tools, equipment, and techniques to ensure high-quality results while adhering to safety and production standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Understands all functionalities and uses handhelds for these functions.
  • Able to read a manufacturing order and form materials into required shapes and dimensions for sign production.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Adequate mathematical skills for fabrication tasks.
  • Demonstrates willingness to adhere to plant wide safety rules.
  • High attention to detail to ensure precision and quality in all work.
  • Strong team philosophy, including demonstrating ability and desire to help develop team members.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including completion slips, material listings, timecards, and requisition forms.
  • Maintain flexibility in work hours, including availability for overtime as needed by management.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required to stay updated on company policies and best practices.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping tasks, including cleaning up production debris and properly storing materials and equipment.
  • Ensure the care, maintenance, and security of all company resources, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain, perform, or notify management of routine maintenance on work machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provides effective leadership to department team members.
  • Can meet or exceed estimates and reasonable expectations for output from Leads and Management.

Effectively Fabricate the Following Sign Types:

  • Drill and tap plaques.
  • Glued ACM V grooved returns to angles.
  • Post and Panel Signs.
  • Small-Medium sized Dimensional Pan signs with internal angle Structure (no larger than sheet of aluminum).
  • Stud mounted panels.
  • Extruded Ground signs with Centerpoles.
  • Extruded Wall signs.
  • Large Dimensional Pan signs with internal angle structure and seams.
  • Radiused signs kerf cutting of extrusion or angle.
  • Stick built ground signs with steel centerpole.
  • Stick built Wall signs- Alum or steel.

Qualifications

  • Understands how to set controls on Mig Spool Gun Welder.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Angle Notcher.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Chop Saws.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Extrusion Saw.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Iron Worker.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Plasma Cutter.
  • Working knowledge of how to use drill and tap.
  • Working knowledge on how to use hand tools typically used in fabrication (grinders, cordless drills, jig saws).
  • Working knowledge on how to use Stud Gun.
  • Basic mechanical and construction knowledge, including an understanding of metals, wood, plastic, blueprints, and fasteners.
  • Create logical cut sheets from engineering drawings.
  • Floor engineer signs with limited information on drawings.
  • Interpret Engineering type drawings and understands welding symbols.
  • Weld Plates onto steel structure for pylon head center poles.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Folding Table.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Press Brake.
  • Working knowledge of how to use Shear.

Education, experience, certifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school or GED equivalent.
  • 1-4 years in production environment making similar type structures and/or 1-2 years fabricating within the industry.

 

Physical and mental demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods while operating machines and tools.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy materials and equipment as required.
  • In the course of the job activity, it may be necessary at times to push/pull, climb, stoop, kneel, stand, or crawl when it is necessary to load or unload pipe, signs, or other materials, install/repair a new or an existing sign or structure.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
