Overview

Job Summary: The Director, Solutions role requires a leader with a passion for customer experience and a capacity to leverage technology for better solutions. This will be a highly visible role with an unlimited opportunity to make an impact. This leader will direct a centralized Solutions team responsible for crafting custom solutions to Exterior Signage, Brand Maintenance, Refresh & Rollout, and Energy client requests for proposals. This new role will report directly to the EVP, Strategic Operations & International, with the requirement to be a thought leader on strategy, execution, and profitable operations. The Director, Solutions will lead a nimble, accurate, value-added Solutions team and partner closely with the Estimating and Strategic Pricing teams working across all business segments.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $175,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of the Solutions function for an efficient deal flow process from Salesforce to the client deliverable in partnership with Sales, Marketing, Estimating, Strategic Pricing, and other departments.
  • Identify opportunities for employee development and strengthening depth of experience to create a scalable model to increase sales by two times over 4 years.
  • Create and maintain a subject matter expert (SME) team to support the development of efficient, value-add solutions for our clients.
  • Lead team who assists in the management of deal flow in Salesforce and ensures quality control of information and deal management.
  • Work on cross functional team and create a more efficient deal flow from sales kick-off to client deliverable.
  • Inspire creativity, resourcefulness coupled with knowledge of the industry to construct winning proposals to customers.
  • Design and drive consistent client deliverables that add value to RFP and RFI responses.
  • Lead a team of Solution Managers that will shepherd RFP/RFI responses from sales handoff to client deliverable.
  • Direct team on creation of mechanisms for the application of historic data in developing our responses to RFP/RFI.
  • Lead creation of cost models that allow for more internal cost estimates versus external.
  • Incorporate acquisitions as needed.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top quality individuals on Solutions team.
  • Create a model in which the centralized Solutions team supports each business segment.
    • Work closely with the business heads as partners to meet or exceed agreed upon expectations for RFP/RFI responses.
  • Support VPs and Directors on the development of a robust scope of work and building competitive market solutions that meet customer’s needs, align with operational strategy, and position all stakeholders to be successful.
  • Develop a strong capable team that supports all areas of the business, including existing business as well as new product offerings.
  • Contribute to new client strategies by innovating and overseeing the RFP response process for the business.
    • Lead strategic thinking on how we accelerate our growth and develop strategic partnerships within designated market and adjacent markets.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to identify and manage company risks that might prevent growth. Combine efforts and foster a collaborative environment within the business.
  • Support preparation of presentations to potential new clients.
  • Communicate with client teams to understand their needs and offer solutions to their problems or goals.
  • Create positive, long-lasting relationships with current and potential internal clients.
  • Attend initial kickoff meetings to better understand new business opportunities and ensure critical milestones are created for each opportunity.
  • Coach VPs and Directors on the management, ownership, communication, and facilitation of tasks related to costing, solutioning and strategizing to increase win rate for all new opportunities.
  • Ensure team members manage opportunities from start to finish, logging all opportunity updates and communication in available systems, including but not limited to Salesforce and ERP.
  • Identify gross margin upside and convey to Estimating and Strategic Sourcing teams so this upside is factored into deal costs, increasing likelihood of win rate via Strategic Agreements supportive of the deal.
  • Collaborate with Operations and clearly define customer expectations to ensure the ultimate success of the onboarding, program, and account.
  • Provide accurate reporting of all Solutions team activities, including trend analysis and below the line tracking, that support both the strategic decisions as well as positive organizational contributions.
  • Monitor the successes and failures of costing strategies in close partnership with Analysts.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Estimating or Business Development fields.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient and confident in leveraging technology—especially tools like Salesforce—as a core part of the sales and estimating process.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and product knowledge within area of specialty, with a strong track record of sound decision-making and execution.
  • Consistent success in identifying, developing, and managing strategic partnerships from initial sourcing through long-term relationship building.
