Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing production activities within the Graphics Printing department, ensuring efficient workflow, proper training, and the consistent delivery of high-quality products. This role emphasizes leadership, continuous improvement through lean manufacturing, and Lean Six Sigma principles, focusing on enhancing productivity, resolving personnel and quality issues, and optimizing the overall production process. This role involves coordinating digital printing, thermoforming, vinyl applications, CNC/CAS programming, and other related tasks as required

Responsibilities

 

Essential Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and lead a team of graphic printing production staff, ensuring optimal performance, professional development, and alignment with company objectives.
    • Collaborate with the Production Manager on training, workflow optimization, and addressing production or personnel concerns within the Graphics Printing department.
    • Implement lean manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma practices to drive improvements in workflow efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall production quality.
    • Monitor production schedules, ensuring on-time completion of projects while maintaining quality standards and budget constraints.
    • Ensure proper training and development programs for staff to maintain high levels of competency and job performance.
    • Oversee production control, tracking job progress and ensuring materials and resources are allocated effectively.
    • Proactively address and resolve any quality concerns, working to enhance processes and reduce defects.
    • Collaborate on inventory management strategies to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing waste.
    • Conduct regular evaluations of production performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to increase efficiency.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety.

 

Qualifications

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with a proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate teams.
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to assess and optimize workflows, identifying areas for process improvement and implementing effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of resolving personnel issues and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Familiarity with production control, inventory tracking, and quality assurance practices.
  • Familiarity with printing operations, inventory management, and color management, including creating custom color profiles preferred.

Education, experience, certifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on lean manufacturing and workflow optimization.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in lean manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, or a related field are a plus.
  • Experience in the graphics printing or sign manufacturing industry is advantageous but not required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work on the production floor, overseeing daily activities and assisting with hands-on tasks when necessary.
  • Capable of lifting materials and operating equipment as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Regular exposure to loud noise levels and varying work conditions.
