Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damages to inventory.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Obtain and process product orders, including receiving deliveries, registering them, and distributing packages and letters within the company
• Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers 
• Handle issues arising in shipping or inventory handling
• Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems
• Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them
• Take photos of outgoing shipments and upload into proprietary software
• Place merchandise in a warehouse or storage facility by packaging, lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods
• Verify orders are accurately filled; quality check products while picking and packing
• Ensure correct packing techniques for outgoing merchandise
• Prepare paperwork for shipments. Print shipment labels and customs documents where necessary
• Ensure shipments are properly identified and labeled
• Coordinate with delivery drivers to pick up shipments from the warehouse
• Check delivery drivers in and out through the day
• Provide outbound detail reports and bills of lading
• Ensure shipments are properly loaded into delivery and transport vehicles
• Track and update the status of outgoing shipments
• Liaise with operations and logistics company to ensure shipments are completed as scheduled
• Notify project management on any schedule or order changes
• Prepare and maintain records of items shipped
• Enter daily activity information into electronic platforms, logs, or information board
• Scan and count inventory accurately
• Maintain and update inventory records
• Compile regular reports for management
• Respond to project management requests and concerns

• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
• Comply with all safety regulations
• Adhere to standard operating procedures

Minimum Requirements:

• Skills
• Operate forklift
• Light computer knowledge

• Education, experience, certifications
• High school, or equivalent
• C driver’s license a plus
• Previous warehouse experience that includes logistics

• Physical and mental demands
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Must have a positive attitude
• Follows direction well
