Overview

Job Summary: The Senior Project Manager position is responsible for providing project management technology leadership by establishing project management standards, processes, and policies for the team. Responsibilities also include oversight of all project efforts, project budgets, and leading all major project efforts. Helps develop and owns project templates, project success factors/metrics, resource utilization, and project status reporting. Mentors and acts as project management resource for all staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans that identify timelines and resourcing.
  • Provide feedback, advice, project updates and encouragement to team members.
  • Manage deadlines and push the team to ensure timeliness.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers as needed.
  • Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall project is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Report on project success criteria results and metrics.
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes.
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings.
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews.
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership.
  • Manage project scope and changes.
  • Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, and dependencies.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, key stakeholders, etc.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication.
  • Ensure that projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Time management skills, especially familiarity with calendar management and goal setting.
  • Familiarity with the work being done by each team member.
  • Knowledge of project management processes, such as Waterfall and Agile.
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve objectives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule, and within budget.
  • Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), SmartSheet, etc.
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies.

Education, experience, certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in relevant field. 
  • Project management certificate (certificates administered by PMI).
  • 3+ years of project management experience.
