Job Summary:  The responsibilities of the Business Development Manager include, but are not limited to, supporting Sales by designing and managing the due diligence process (costing, pricing, product specifications, and strategy), preparing proposals as defined by opportunity (RFP, ROI, etc.) and creating a market competitive solution for the customer and collaborating with multiple departments to ensure buy-in.

  • Act as the conduit between Sales and Operations for all new opportunities
  • Review new opportunities to ensure they fit within our defined Key Customer Attributes & Target Markets.
  • Responsible for the management, ownership, communication and facilitation of tasks related to costing, pricing, solutioning and strategizing for all new opportunities
  • Participate and plan initial kick-off meetings to better understand the new business opportunity and to create critical milestones for opportunity
  • Understand customer requirements and accurately develop scope of work for solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Manage opportunity from start to finish, logging all opportunity updates and communication in available systems, including but not limited to SalesForce and ERP
  • Manage site audit data as required, build applicable solution in proposal templates as defined by opportunity
  • Define risk and opportunities for each opportunity to develop pricing strategies
  • Identify gross margin upside and convey to Operations during transition
  • Collaborate with support departments including Supply Chain Management and Operations to build market competitive and strategic solutions
  • Clearly define scope of work and customer expectations to ensure new customer onboarding is successful and transition to Operations is seamless
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure the ultimate success of the program and account
  • Monitor the successes and failures of pricing strategies within markets

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
  • Attend customer meetings, trade shows, exhibits as required
  • Participate in department or customer conference calls as required
  • Assist with escalation issues that may arise with customers, vendors or staff
  • Occasional travel (less than 10%) to meet with customers
  • Complete reporting as assigned



  • Must be a good communicator with internal support groups, remote sales staff and with a diverse group of clients
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Self-motivated and driven to exceed customer expectations
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Adaptability to fast-paced environment with shifting priorities based on urgency, customer expectations, and importance
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Experience with Construction, Refresh/Remodel and/or Electrical Work is preferred but not required

Education, experience, certifications

  • College Graduate preferred
  • 2-4 years of account management or project management experience preferred

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Ability to work in a strict deadline-driven environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide on occasion
  • Position may require working before or after regularly scheduled hours as business needs arise
